The
Evolution of Restricted Housing for Whistler 1988 - 2000.

Restricted
Housing is subsidized partially by the provincial government and the Whistler
Housing Authorities (a branch of the Municipality of Whistler). Restricted
Housing provides a means for people employed in Whistler to afford the
expensive rent. This image shows the restricted housing in relation
to the selected neighbourhoods for the Whistler region. Also, shown
is the employee housing relative to the restricted housing. Employee
housing is simply designated housing for residents of Whistler without
subsidized rent and resale prices.
This image shows the evolution
of restricted housing from 1988 - 2000. The spatial distribution
of the restricted housing is generally towards the north end of Whistler.
It is interesting to note that restricting housing in 1998 and 1999 is
located closer to the village, probably because of the intensive lobbying
of the Whistler Housing Association and increased demands on closer restricted
housing.
